Meet Dr. Hunley
Throughout my career, I have been driven by a fundamental motivation to help others lead more fulfilling and productive lives. I truly believe in the transformative power of therapy to make that happen because I have seen it work. I have had the privilege of helping people through their most difficult times and get on track to the life they want to live.
I received my Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Art History at Loyola University Chicago. I went on to receive my Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Clinical Psychology, also at Loyola University Chicago. During my graduate school training, I completed practica at University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and Hines VA Hospital. My Internship was completed at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital where I received training in the adult partial hospital and intensive outpatient programs in general mental health, addiction, and anxiety disorders.
Following my training, I have served more than 16 years with the Department of Veterans Affairs. With a specialization in trauma, I have helped Veterans recover from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, substance use, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and other conditions. It has been a true honor to serve Veterans and be part of such amazing transformations. In addition to my clinical work, I have enjoyed opportunities to be involved in research, training students, supervising staff, and leading important initiatives and programs. These experiences have given me a unique skillset in my work with clients. In my private practice, I draw on these experiences to continue helping Veterans as well as a broader clientele. Everyone has walked a unique path, and it is a privilege to be part of the journey towards recovery and wellness.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, going to museums, and learning about history and art. I strive to keep my values front and center and align my time with what means the most to me. I try to practice what I preach by attending to my own well-being, finding balance, and being open to new experiences.
